Cheap Theatre Tickets in London
With opening night to ‘Thick as Thieves’ just around the corner, now would be a good time to go onto more detail about what the play is about. My posts on Facebook and Instagram have said what the play is about on the surface – two women from very different backgrounds come together after not seeing each other since childhood – but it is really about so much more than that.
Karen and Gail are two sisters who grew up in the care system but were separated, sent to different sides of the UK, and have had absolutely no contact for twenty years. Karen was placed with a family who treated her like a daughter and was able to start again, now going by the name Kate. In contrast, Gail was moved around like a parcel and was always looking for her big sister who had always taken care of her. Fast forward, both are now mothers and ‘Kate Taylor’ in settling into her new job as Head of Children’s Services when a familiar but unwelcome woman walks through the door of her office.
‘Thick as Thieves’ is a play that, at it’s heart, is about compassion for those in circumstances different from our own. It’s a story that asks the questions ‘who do we care for?’, ‘who cares for us?’ and, perhaps most importantly, ‘who do we let care for our children?’.
‘Thick as Thieves’ will be at McQueens Theatre in Wood Green Wednesday 12th – Saturday 15th at 19:30. Tickets are £15 (£12 concession) available at https://www.everythingsrosieshows.com/tickets
